What is a full body screening?
It is a combination of a calcium scoring, low dose lung screenings, and an abdomen-pelvis CT scan with oral and iv contrast. A full body scan can reveal numerous findings about the body and is used to detect abnormalities of the liver, kidneys, pancreas, spleen, aorta and other vital organs.

Who should consider a full body scan?
If you are over 35, suffer from fatigue, have a family history of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, chest pain, use tobacco or have an inactive lifestyle and is someone who wishes to engage in aggressive prevention measures and take a proactive role in detecting possible diseases.

What to expect the day of the exam?
These tests will involve limitations on food intake before the exam. The time involved from start to finish will take about an hour. The patient is positioned for the scan and made comfortable for the short process. With the CT, the patient and table pass through an opening in the unit as the scanner rotates around the patient. The patient stays stationary and the scanner captures the images. All scanning procedures are preformed as rapidly as possible and exposure to radiation is minimal.

What happens to the results of the scan?
A board certified radiologist will read the exam and results of the scans may be transmitted to any designated professional within 24-hours following the examination.
